SI UNITS
[SOLVED EXAMPLES IN MECHANICS STRENGTH
OF MATERIALS STRUCTURES]

by
S. B. Junnarkar

The metric system, at present current in this country, will soon be replaced by the Systemé International. The Indian Standards Institution has already started incorporating SI Units in all the Indian Standards which are now being processed. A switch-over to the SI from the present m.k.s. system is, therefore, only a matter of time.

In the circumstances, it is necessary that we get to know and use this system of measurements. With that end in view, this little booklet dealing with problems in Mechanics, Strength of Materials and Structures has been published. There is nothing special about the nature of problems solved. They are the usual type to be found in any text-book. The stress is more on the use of SI Units than on the novelty of the questions selected for solution.

There is another reason why a book of this sort is considered necessary. Britain has discarded its historic f.p.s. system and has adopted the SI.

Already some British Publications in SI Units are available in this country and many more will be coming and will, naturally, find place in the libraries of our Engineering Institutions. It will not do for us to lag behind, if we are to profit by this incoming new literature.

The book contains 161 Examples with Solutions in Mechanics, Strength of Materials and Structures.
